Kingman Unified School District will ensure that all children with disabilities between the ages of birth (0) through twenty-one (21) years, within the boundaries of the District, including children with disabilities who are homeless or wards of the state, and children with disabilities attending private school or home school, regardless of the severity of their disability and who need special education and related services are identified, located, an evaluated.

The district will inform the general public, private schools and all parents within its boundaries of the district’s responsibility of the availability for of special education services for student aged three (3) through twenty-one (21) years and how those services may be accessed.

Child Find screenings for children Ages 3-5 are conducted at Little Explorers located on the La Senita campus. Call Julie Runkel at (928)-753-6413 to schedule an appointment for a screening.

Parents have a right to know the types of information students may be asked on certain assessments. Because of our district's commitment to being as transparent as possible, we have posted the post-school assessments used with special education students for parental review.

What is An Individualized Education Plan (IEP)? An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is part of the requirements under the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA). This is a legal plan that is developed by a full IEP team. Children can only qualify for an IEP after a Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET); which parents are member of, has determined that your child is (1) a child with a disability and (2) needing specially designed instruction in order to access and make progress in the general education curriculum. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older “eligible students” certain rights with respect to the student’s education records.
