Arizona Tax Credit

Schools Win - You Win. The state of Arizona has a law that offers a tax credit on state taxes. A.R.S. 43-1089.01 allows for any taxpayer to contribute up to $200 per individual or $400 for married couples, filing jointly, to any fee-required extra-curricular activity offered at the school of their choice. This is a direct credit, not a deduction.

How Does it Work

the tax credit reduces your tax liability by the amount you donate. For example, if you owe $500 in Arizona state income taxes and you donate $400 to a school, you would only owe $100 for the year you made the donation. If you expect a refund of $300, it will be $400 higher. If you don't pay state income tax, you can't reduce your liability below $0. It literally costs you nothing to give the $400.00. It comes back to you as a credit, refund or reduction.

Who Can Donate?

You don't have to have a child in a public school to benefit from the tax credit.  Businesses, grandparents, neighbors - anyone can take advantage of this win-win opportunity. We can accept any amount from $10.00 to $400.00.

For more information, please look over the brochure from the Department of Revenue.

Where Can My Money be Used?

All public schools that provide instruction in grades K-12 are eligible for the credit. You may choose where you would like your money to be used. The Staff at Black Mountain Elementary School would like you to consider the following activities at our school for your tax credit:
