Recognizing that a strong curriculum is an essential component of a quality educational program, the Kingman Unified School District has made curriculum development a high priority.  Teachers work with district administrators to align district curriculum with state standards and sequence objectives appropriately for the grade levels they teach.

 

Currently K-12 math, language arts, reading, social studies and science curriculum have been aligned to Arizona State Standards.  For more information or a complete list of state standards, you may visit the Arizona Department of Education’s Academic Standards web page at:

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM

 

The junior high program is designed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of the emerging adolescent.  The Student Planner describes the wide variety of opportunities available to students and is available from the school upon request.

 

The following academic courses are essential for every junior high school student:

 

·        Language Arts

·        Mathematics

·        Science/health

·        Social Studies

·        Physical Education

 

In addition elective and exploratory classes are offered which include:  chorus, band, foreign language, art,  computer technology, industrial technology, home economics, career and consumer skills, journalism and drama.  Offerings will vary from school to school depending on staff and facilities.

HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Kingman High School offers an educational program including:  advanced placement and honors classes; a comprehensive core for English, mathematics, science, social studies, and history; foreign languages; computer education; fine arts; physical education; industrial technology; home economics; and business classes.

 

Twenty-two credits and 40 hours of service learning are required for graduation.  Please see the chart on this page for subject area graduation requirements. More detailed information about individual classes and programs is available at the Guidance Offices of either South or North Campus.

 

School clubs and interscholastic sports are also part of the high school experience.  Information about these activities and offerings may be obtained by calling the individual schools or returning to the Kingman Unified School District main web page.
